The Eternal Flames

Last night we had another go at Morchok HC as our first Heroic kill in Cataclysm. The first time we tried him we were having trouble coordinating the stomps due to issues with Mumble but last night everything just came together and we had him and his clone, Kohcrom, down in just a couple of attempts. It just goes to show how important having a voice service like Mumble is when raiding.

This encounter seems really easy at first but there is much more damage than we were expecting from normal and it requires everyone to be completely aware of their surroundings for it to all come together. The amount of healing required is huge too so well done to our healers for being able to keep up.

I think the next boss we are going to attempt will be Ultraxion, which we can try next week. Congrats to the loot winners as well with winning our first 410 level gear.

As of last night, the final make up for team 3 is:

Going forward anyone who doesnt make it to the raid ontime will be replaced by an appropriate alt from those online. For the sake of the team, please try and make your raids ontime.

I ran team 3 into DS10 tonight... only 8 of us because a couple of the regulars were no shows for the night. But damn... we had a couple of wipes along the way. But we clear the first 4 bosses.

We are going back in tonight for a crack at Ultra and see how it goes down :D

PS: We are now thinking that we might have to start looking at team 4.

We did it! Months of hard work have paid off and Neltharion the Earth-Warder (or just Deathwing to his friends) has followed all his predecessors in taking a dirt nap. The Eternal Flames is now 8/8 in Dragon Soul giving us our first "at level" raid defeat in Cataclysm.

I think this is my favourite fight in all of Dragon Soul. While it's by far the longest encounter in the raid it doesnt feel like it when you are there, the time flies. It has a good mix of obstacles without being completely overwhelming and messy like Spine and there is still a lot for everyone to do. 

Atharius, Justwonder, Xave, Baodin, Glowy/Syllah, Alagros, Kalamage, Isankitamato, Laurelia and Orcus.

To paraphrase John Cleese: It's passed on. This dragon is no more. It has ceased to be. It's expired and gone to meet its maker. This is a late dragon. It's a stiff. Bereft of life, it rests in peace. If you hadn't nailed it to the perch, it would be pushing up the daisies. It's rung down the curtain and joined the choir invisible. This is an ex-Deathwing!

A big thanks to everyone on the team for sticking together and working towards this end. Next up Dragon Soul Heroic!

Ok... after trying the joint raiding thing with NSA, I've had a good look at our roster and I have pretty much worked out that we are only 2-3 people short of having a full third team.

We can fill it out on a temporary basis until we recruit the required people but this is only really only going to be a temporary thing.

Currently we are looking at the following people in the guild:

• Tanks:
  • Thrud
  • Peanurse/Dramoth (alts)

• Healers:
  • Zeira
  • Voss/Elysíum

• Melee:
  • Fraenios (if interested)
  • Gorizmór

• Ranged:
  • Chunkymunkey
  • Thingamabob

This is only a rough outline and it could change as we assemble people.

After a lot of blood sweat and swearing, we finally did our bit and knocked off Ultraxion. It was a hard fight, but we finally got him.

We had a quick run through doing 9man/woman Firelands this week since we were a member down. Sticking to our promise that we will only try new bosses in Dragon Soul when all of us are there.

We managed to get through all the bosses and up to Ragnaros and got him a pretty respectable 70% too. Considering it was our first proper go through firelands and first go at all but 2 bosses, all while being 1 member down, I think we did a really good job. Hopefully we will be able to finish him off sometime in the future.

Hi everyone,

The guild officers had a meeting last Sunday concerning a few things and one of the things that came up was our raiding teams and their signups. On the guild website, there is a very good calendar (that will one day hopefully be reconnected with the wow calendar) which we will be using for guild signups in the future. Once everyone is signed up for a raid, I will send out the raid invites using the ingame calendar and set everyone who signed up to their confirmed status.

This way, people dont need to log into the game to check on whether they have been invited, they sign up on the website and I do all the hard work in game for them.

We had a great night tonight working on the Spine of Deathwing. It's such a horribly chaotic fight which takes quite a lot of getting used to so you can even see whats going on around you. We spent most of the night refining our tactics getting a little further on each attempt before we ended at a 200k wipe. 

We regrouped and tried again, and again and finally after so much effort we got the kill on one of those famous Flames last attempts. We need to give a special mention and thanks to our healers - Baodin, Isan and Glowy for this one, they healed like they have never healed before to get us through and kept us all alive.

Next week we are going to have a real good push and try and finish Dragon Soul off and kill Deathwing once and for all.

It would seem that Team Alagros currently has the first 4 bosses on farm in Dragon Soul while Team Draladius in the last 2 weeks has one shotted both Morchok and Yor'sahj,

All this equates to now is free loot for all :D
